About Me

Family trip to Chicago in July 2017

Hi Students and Parents/Guardians!

My name is Mr. Henry Seng.  I’m here to help you learn more about U.S. Government and earn your credit for this class.  I think the topic is most interesting!  I am here to help you in any way I can.  Please schedule an appointment to talk to me, email me,  text me or call me if you need help, or to talk for the Welcome Call, Parent/Guardian Call, or Discussion-Based Assessment (a DBA is also called a Review in this class).

I am married and have a son we named John who was born in February 2011.  We were blessed with identical twin girls, Jenna and Julia, in September 2013.  I attended two universities and have three degrees.  I have been teaching since 1997.  I love to read and learn new information.  My hobbies include traveling, running, hiking, camping, and writing.

My wife is an instructor with FLVS too!  She and I love to visit historical sites.  On our honeymoon, we visited Tulum, a Mayan city, among other cities.

My office phone number is 904-419-9027.

Feel free to use this number to text me as well.  All I ask is that you identify yourself by name since your text will just come in with a number, and not a face.  My online appointment scheduler is located at https://tinyurl.com/ScheduleTalk

My email address is hseng@flvs.net

I look forward to your success!

Below is my official biography from FLVS:

Henry Seng knows firsthand the line from a poem about teachers entitled Molders of the Future rings true.  One of the lines reads, “Our teachers mold eternity in living flesh and bones.” He credits teachers with molding him.

Mr. Seng says he instills the same positive qualities that his teachers passed to him to his students.  Mr. Seng approaches teaching as an occasion to help students discover and achieve their own measure of success.  He especially enjoys interacting with students, providing motivation and encouragement.  Another reason Mr. Seng became a teacher was because he believed that education was the “great equalizer” of opportunity.  He maintains that education could put people into wonderful circumstances when opportunities knock.

Besides being a social studies teacher, his extracurricular activities included being varsity and JV Brain Brawl teams head coach, National History Club founding sponsor, prom coordinator, junior class sponsor, and senior class sponsor.  He has taught at the middle and high schools level.  He has been the social studies department chair at his school, was appointed to the Advisory Board for the National History Club, and presented at the National Council for the Social Studies’ annual meeting.  He has also been the recipient of the Principal’s Award, was voted Most Dedicated to the Profession by his peers, and was named a College Board AP Fellows.

Mr. Seng earned his Master of Education degree in Varying Exceptionalities from the University of North Florida.  He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science Education from Florida State University.
